The Modern Language Aptitude Test is an international test designed to determine someone's ability to learn a foreign language.

The test is tightly guarded and is used by:

• various military forces, including the US and Australian

• religious bodies prepping missionaries

• universities as part of admissions to language courses

• government departments and foreign affairs
